New round of negotiations between Israel and Lebanon in Rome confirmed for September

Meetings mediated by the United States aim to consolidate security frameworks, advance truce monitoring, and establish the groundwork for long-term stability on the southern border.
Rome (Italy) – Political and military authorities from Israel and Lebanon will return to the Italian capital in the second half of September for a new round of talks mediated by the United States. The technical dialogues continue the cycle of multilateral negotiations aimed at paving the way for a lasting peace and security agreement in the region.

The new summit comes at a crucial moment for logistical and humanitarian assessments, marked by the gradual return of hundreds of thousands of displaced persons to their areas of origin in southern Lebanon and the need to strictly oversee compliance with ceasefire protocols.

Core agenda items for September:

Verification Mechanisms: Enhancement of multilateral real-time monitoring committees to investigate violations and ensure mutual security in border zones.

Security and Territorial Sovereignty: Alignment of schedules for the coordinated operations of the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) in the south and the resizing of Israeli military positions.

Humanitarian Aid and Reconstruction: Articulation of international support to stabilize affected areas and enable the recovery of basic civil infrastructure.

U.S. diplomacy has reinforced its optimism regarding the trajectory of the talks, relying on the technical format to overcome internal political impasses on both sides and mitigate the risks of further escalation in the Middle East.
