ISRAELI CABINET AND NORTHERN COMMAND RATIFY SECURITY DIRECTIVES ALONG LEBANESE BORDER, CONDITIONING STABILIZATION ON CEASEFIRE COMPLIANCE

In a statement and operational update this Sunday (August 9, 2026), Israeli officials detail the maintenance of high readiness and response actions to violations on the northern border.

The Government of Israel and the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Command presented an update this afternoon on the operational and diplomatic status along the Lebanese border, reinforcing their determination to ensure the safety of northern communities.

Following recorded violations of the active truce terms, the Government of Israel reiterated that maintaining stability in the border area depends strictly on the fulfillment of demilitarization obligations and the removal of armed groups from the demarcation line:

"Israel remains fully committed to the security of its northern border and the safe return of its citizens to their homes. However, we will not tolerate attempts to rebuild Hezbollah's military infrastructure. Our forces will continue to act in a surgical and preventive manner against any imminent threat or violation of the signed agreement."

 

Current Status of Operations and Diplomatic Axis:

Preventive Response Operations: The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed targeted strikes against military infrastructure targets in southern Lebanon in response to hostile actions detected by military intelligence, while maintaining the protocol of issuing preventive evacuation alerts to the local civilian population in affected areas.

Monitoring Mechanism and Dialogue: Security delegations and Ministry of Defense representatives are participating in mediated diplomatic talks in Rome aimed at reinforcing coordination with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) and strengthening the presence of the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) south of the Litani River.

Field Force Readiness: The IDF Northern Command maintains intensive patrolling and continuous aerial surveillance, with clear rules of engagement to neutralize any infiltration attempts or attacks directed at Israeli territory.
