President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced a deep restructuring of the high command of the Armed Forces and the composition of the Cabinet of Ministers. The changes aim to resolve recent institutional friction, modernize defense management, and align military strategy with the accelerated integration of cutting-edge technologies on the front lines.
Among the main changes in the military command is the appointment of General Mykhailo Drapatyi as the new Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, succeeding General Oleksandr Syrskyi. Major General Ihor Skybiuk assumes the role of Chief of the General Staff. These appointments seek to renew battlefield leadership and restore cohesion between the military high command and front-line troops.
In the governmental sphere, the restructuring includes the transition of Mykhailo Fedorov, who leaves the Ministry of Defense to lead the state's technological consolidation and innovation initiatives. Under the interim management of Yevhenii Khmara at the Defense Ministry, the government aims to maintain its focus on bureaucracy reduction, autonomous systems, and cyber warfare. Additionally, the executive branch now features Serhiy Koretskyi heading the Cabinet of Ministers, succeeding Yulia Svyrydenko.
The measures adopted by the Presidency aim to optimize the operational efficiency of the Ukrainian defense forces, promote institutional stability, and bolster the country's response capabilities in the global strategic arena.
