The Government of Ukraine has formalized the creation and scope of the new super-ministry for Technology, Innovation, and Asymmetric Defense, to be led by Mykhailo Fedorov. The initiative consolidates the country's strategy to centralize technological development, eliminate bureaucratic barriers, and accelerate the integration of cutting-edge solutions into the theater of operations.
Under Fedorov's management, the new structure will serve as the technological supply engine for the Armed Forces, focusing efforts on scaling national production of aerial, naval, and ground autonomous systems, as well as advancing artificial intelligence applied to target management and swarm warfare. The ministry also assumes coordination of cyber sovereignty, critical network protection, and strategic connectivity infrastructure management.
Another core pillar of the sector is strengthening the MilTech ecosystem, facilitating direct procurement from domestic and international private companies and startups. Through a rapid acceleration model, the government seeks to test prototypes in real combat environments and enable scale production within shortened timeframes.
The creation of the ministry reinforces the Ukrainian state's directive to directly integrate private innovation and digital efficiency into the national security architecture and the tactical capabilities of front-line troops.
