UKRAINE ANNOUNCES CHANGE IN ARMED FORCES HIGH COMMAND TO RENEW BATTLEFIELD LEADERSHIP

The Government of Ukraine has confirmed a restructuring of the high command of the Armed Forces, announcing the replacement of the Commander-in-Chief of the Army, General Oleksandr Syrskyi. To lead the defense forces, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has appointed General Mykhailo Drapatyi, previously commander of the Joint Forces.

The shift in military command comes at a strategic moment and seeks to restore cohesion between the high command of the Armed Forces and front-line troops, as well as accelerate the integration of new tactics and technologies on the battlefield. General Drapatyi assumes the role with strong support from ground troops and sectors associated with defense modernization.

As part of the command structure overhaul, Major General Ihor Skybiuk has been designated as Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, directly overseeing operational planning and brigade coordination.

With these new appointments, the Presidency aims to strengthen troop responsiveness, optimize tactical planning, and ensure operational stability in combat zones.
