Russia, China, and Turkey Press for Immediate Resumption of US-Iran Negotiations

Russia, China, and Turkey Press for Immediate Resumption of US-Iran Negotiations

Following an escalation of tensions in the Gulf and Oman, Vladimir Putin signals Moscow's readiness to mediate the Iranian nuclear deal

Amid a worsening maritime and military security environment in the Middle East, Russia, acting in diplomatic coordination with China and Turkey, has intensified international pressure on the United States and Iran to immediately resume direct negotiations. This diplomatic offensive follows a series of attacks in the strategic Gulf region and the surrounding Sea of Oman, which have raised alarms over the risk of a global conflict.

The bloc's positioning aims to curb the escalation of hostilities and re-establish predictable channels for dialogue. As part of this effort, Russian President Vladimir Putin has publicly signaled that the Kremlin is fully prepared to act as a facilitator, offering technical and political support for the restructuring of the Iran nuclear deal (JCPOA), should the involved parties formally request assistance.

"The stability of the Gulf is fundamental to global energy and geopolitical security. Multilateral diplomacy, backed by structural actors in the region, is the only viable path to prevent a collapse in the communication channels between Washington and Tehran," assess foreign policy analysts tracking the Kremlin's movements.

The joint initiative by Moscow, Beijing, and Ankara reflects an effort to consolidate a new mediation architecture for the Middle East, mitigating the impact of unilateral actions that could compromise commercial shipping lanes and navigation safety in the Gulf region.
