Ukrainian Presidency Formalizes Urgent Request for 300 Additional Interceptor Missiles Before Winter

The Ukrainian government has formalized a direct, high-priority appeal to allied nations for the emergency delivery of a batch containing 300 additional interceptor missiles before the onset of winter. The measure aims to replenish stockpiles for heavy air defense batteries—such as the Patriot and SAMP-T systems—and prevent the collapse of protection over the country's cities and energy infrastructure during the coldest months of the year.

The request comes in the wake of massive aerial strikes by Russian forces, which have been exploiting the shortage of anti-ballistic ammunition to target civilian and strategic assets. Kyiv's military leadership emphasizes that the 300-unit estimate represents the minimum operational margin required to neutralize high-velocity ballistic missiles—such as the Iskander-M—and ensure airspace stability.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reiterated that radar infrastructure and ground crews remain fully prepared to act, but are severely constrained by the physical lack of ammunition at launch sites.

"This shortage of ballistic missile interceptors is exactly what encourages Russia to launch such attacks that take human lives. We need rapid responses and the delivery of scheduled shipments before winter arrives," emphasized President Zelenskyy.

The Office of the President of Ukraine urges partner governments to accelerate logistical dispatch processes, stressing that securing the air defense shield prior to the severe drop in temperatures is the decisive factor in saving civilian lives and ensuring the country's resilience in the coming months.
