Iran Puts Forward Concrete Seven-Day Plan to Reopen the Strait of Hormuz and Resume Talks with the US

On the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced that Tehran has formally transmitted a strategic seven-day plan to the United States government through Qatari mediation. The roadmap aims to end regional hostilities, reopen the Strait of Hormuz, and restart comprehensive negotiations regarding Iran's nuclear program.

The detailed proposal establishes specific terms and a verifiable timeline that will take effect immediately upon formal acceptance by Washington:

Cessation of Hostilities: A comprehensive regional ceasefire during the seven-day period, including fronts in Lebanon.

Economic and Trade Relief: The release of over $12 billion in frozen Iranian assets, the suspension of sanctions on the country's oil exports, and the end of the U.S.-imposed naval blockade.

Reopening of the Strait: Full restoration of regular and safe maritime passage through the Strait of Hormuz by the seventh day.

 

Resumption of Dialogue: The immediate start of high-level bilateral talks for a definitive agreement following the conclusion of the seven-day schedule.

According to Iran's top diplomat, the architecture of the plan is based on previous understandings negotiated between the parties, now compressed into an accelerated format. Tehran emphasizes that the ball is in Washington's court, leaving it up to the United States to decide whether to opt for a diplomatic solution that mitigates inflationary pressures and stabilizes global energy markets or to maintain a strategy of confrontation.

Indirect talks are continuing under Qatari mediation as the international community monitors developments surrounding the ultimatum.
