Saudi Arabia Welcomes U.S.-Iran Agreement to Cease Military Operations and Commence Peace Talks

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia issued an official statement today expressing the country's support for the recent agreement reached between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran. The pact outlines an immediate end to mutual military operations and the beginning of a 60-day period for detailed bilateral negotiations, aimed at reaching a permanent peace agreement.

In the statement, the Saudi government formally commended the diplomatic role played by the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the State of Qatar, whose mediation efforts were instrumental in bringing the parties together. The Ministry also highlighted the responsive stance and cooperation demonstrated by both Washington and Tehran, which were decisive factors in the success of the negotiations.

Focus on Regional Security and the Strait of Hormuz

As a central point for Middle Eastern stability, Saudi Arabia emphasized the urgent need to fully restore security and freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most vital maritime and commercial trade routes. The Kingdom advocates for traffic conditions in the region to return to the state they were in prior to February 28.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs concluded by reiterating the Kingdom's hope that this process will culminate in a lasting peace. According to the ministry, a definitive agreement must:

Guarantee and safeguard the security interests of all countries in the region;

Enhance security and stability on a global scale;

Uphold and respect the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of sovereign states
