75th PRISONER SWAP: UKRAINE RESCUES 186 CITIZENS FROM RUSSIAN CAPTIVITY, INCLUDING MARIUPOL VETERANS AND ONE CIVILIAN

Operation coordinated by the Headquarters mobilizes land, naval, and air forces; Kyiv warns of Russian psychological pressure tactics targeting families of detained service members.

The Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War in Ukraine has confirmed the successful execution of the 75th prisoner exchange operation with the Russian Federation. The action secured the safe return of 186 Ukrainian citizens, consisting of 185 service members from various branches of the security forces and one civilian who had been held in Russian custody since the early months of the invasion in 2022.

The rescued military contingent reflects broad cooperation across Kyiv's defense sectors, encompassing combatants from the Armed Forces of Ukraine (including the Navy, Land Forces, Air Assault Forces, Territorial Defense Forces, and Special Operations Forces), the Military Law Enforcement Service, the National Guard, and the State Border Guard Service.

Heroes of Azovstal and Diversity of Fronts

According to official data consolidated by authorities in Kyiv, more than half of those repatriated had been captured in the year 2022. The group includes heroes from the historic resistance of Mariupol and survivors of the siege at the Azovstal steelworks, as well as a crew member from the rare and high-risk helicopter missions that operated the aerial resupply corridor to the plant.

The released individuals fought or resided across multiple strategic fronts of the conflict, spanning the lines of Donetsk, Luhansk, Kharkiv, Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, Kyiv, and the Kursk incursion sector. The age range of the repatriated citizens spans from 26 years old (the youngest) to 62 years old (the oldest), and includes two career officers.

All recovered citizens were immediately integrated into health protocols, receiving clinical examinations, essential supplies, and access to government rehabilitation and psychological reintegration programs to mitigate the effects of prolonged isolation.

Warning Against Psychological Pressure Operations

In parallel with the successful exchange, Ukrainian authorities issued a sharp warning regarding new information warfare strategies being conducted by Moscow. Ukraine’s Human Rights Commissioner, Dmytro Lubinets, denounced that Russian operatives are carrying out a large-scale campaign of direct psychological pressure against the families of Ukrainian prisoners of war.

Direct phone calls and messages are being targeted at relatives under the guise of "facilitating negotiations," with the true objective of inducing coordinated actions that could undermine Ukraine’s international standing and stability.
