The President of the United States stated on July 31 that the U.S. government has not yet reached a final decision on granting Ukraine the necessary licenses for domestic manufacturing of Patriot air defense interceptor missiles.
The uncertainty surrounding the technology transfer and production authorization comes at a decisive moment for Ukrainian forces, which are seeking long-term, sustainable alternatives to protect their cities and critical infrastructure against intensifying ballistic missile attacks.
While the White House evaluates the implications of the move, the Ukrainian government reiterates that the ability to manufacture interceptors under license—either independently or in partnership with European allies—is essential to overcome defensive ammunition shortages and reduce direct reliance on international stockpiles.
