Raimundo Cutrim Case: STF Investigation Probes Unauthorized Access to Restricted Data and Monitoring of Official

Former Maranhão Public Safety Secretary Raimundo Cutrim is at the center of inquiries conducted by the Supreme Federal Court (STF) regarding the use of government systems to monitor the movements and security of Minister Flávio Dino and his family, alongside developments in investigations into obstruction of justice.

As part of the inquiries overseen by Justice Alexandre de Moraes, the Federal Police executed search and seizure warrants against the former secretary. The investigation indicates that restricted-access databases were allegedly used to track official and personal vehicles associated with Dino’s routine. Concurrently, house arrest and removal from his position at the Maranhão Extraordinary Secretariat for Legislative Affairs were ordered in connection with investigations into interference in ongoing judicial proceedings in the state.

The investigation into data leaks prompted statements from press associations regarding the protection of journalistic source confidentiality. The STF and the Federal Police clarified that the investigative actions do not target the practice of journalism, focusing strictly on unauthorized access to state-held data and the conduct of individuals involved in illicit tracking and information sharing.

Raimundo Cutrim’s defense denies any wrongdoing regarding the handling of information or illicit financial transactions, maintaining the lawfulness of his actions. Minister Flávio Dino’s office stated that preventive security measures were implemented after identifying risks to institutional and family routines.
